This all sounds ok - but I'll need your technical know-how Matt and I don't use or have Skype (or a wi-fi Laptop)!
One of our members from Warwick is currently scouting for a venue as he spends a lot of time in the area where the race takes place (details will be posted here as soon as I can agree a suitable venue to meet all of our needs for the meeting)
I agree that the AGM must continue in a physical form and that the option of Virtual coverage should be researched to provide information to members - but without physical presence the voting on club propositions / changes could not be verified or taken into account (aso each proposition would take an hour to resolve!)
The club needs a real meeting of this type at least once a year - and I encourage any members who can be involved to support it (and any other future meetings).
I appreciate for some it is too far away or other plans / commitments mean that attendance is not possible.
The club is run by a skeleton committee - indeed the constitution needs significant review due to lack of committee members / members prepared to hold a role.
This is something we need to work on for the future of the club - eg. if 4 key members were to leave the club or relinquish their roles, the future of the club would be in question - and whilst I am not suggesting for one minute that this is going to happen - we need to build the foundations of the club to support the growth we have experienced in the last 12 months.
I am looking to divide responsibilities out to club members wishing to be involved on the committee, so any volunteers for roles are appreciated. Some have already shown interest - but more interest in involvement would be appreciated.
To end on a positive note - the club is strong - and not in danger of coming to an end. Our membership grew at a much greater level than expected last year - with no cost to recruit members - growth was primarily due to recommendation / word of mouth / presence in events / on the internet.
And as more and more vests get out there - things can only get stronger!

Apologies for the delay in posting details of the AGM location for Sunday 28th January 2007.
The AGM will be held in an area of the dining room of the Fox Inn at Loxley nr Stratford upon Avon (on the route of the Not the Roman IX race).
The AGM will commence at 3.00pm - I would not anticipate the AGM to last too long - estimate approx 1 hour to 1 and a half hours - subject to involvement of attending members.
Nibbles will be provided during the meeting - if members would like to take advantage of the available bar food at the Fox Inn orders must be placed before 2.00pm.
Many, many thanks to Danny Farndon who has worked very hard to find a suitable venue.
Unfortunately there is no Wi-Fi access at the Inn - venues providing this facility were charging too much for available space for our meeting.
I am keen to guage members views of Virtual AGM's for future AGM events and the concept/reality of virtual club meetings and this will be discussed on Sunday.
I will endeavour to post a full Agenda for the AGM on this forum and the site prior to Sunday (many apologies I am just back from working in Ireland - I haven't even had time to fit in any training so I'll be last UKnetrunner home on Sunday in the Not the Roman IX!)
I hope to see as many UKnetrunners as possible on Sunday.

Thanks for the info Alan - I'm now sorely tempted to park in the pub car-park, jog to the start for a warmup, run the race and jog back to the car as a warmdown.
Or given that it's just after the huge hill, just stop at 8km in the race and go to the pub |

Have a good race, guys and girls. And a good AGM. I will be there in (non-wi-fi) spirit!

Hi Guys,
Sorry I wasn't able to stop for the AGM after all, but I was kindly chauffeured by friends and unable to call the shots.
It was good to meet some more members at last
and looking forward to reading minutes or brief account of meeting.

Hi Jigs,
good to meet you today and have a bit of a chat.
The AGM went very well - with a relatively good turnout of members whose input was very much valued today.
Great venue with really good food and very good hospitality by the landlord & staff at the Fox @ Loxley(well found Danny!)
Full details of AGM will be posted on the website, and e-mailed to all members in the next few days ..... for now I am a little tired after all this running and driving (especially the driving!)

Ladies and Gents - there are now short reports on the race and AGM (focussing on the crucial issue of who got what silverware) on the website.
It was great to see so many UKnetrunners on Sunday. Hopefully I'll see a few of you before next year's race. |
