I'm going to use this section of the forum to announce updates to the Grand Prix - and you can post your events onto this part of the forum for me to collate your results rather than e-mailing me at uknetrunner@aol.com if you wish.
There are a few changes to the Grand Prix for 2006 which will be listed here soon - in the meantime keep the results flowing in - all qualifying distance races qualify (see club website for in depth rules).
Remember - it's free to take part and you could win a trophy - and is a great bit of "friendly" competition between the members of UKnetrunner.
Good luck to all for the 2006 Grand Prix !

Hi,
Can someone tell me how I enter the 'Grand Prix'. I am not running my first official race until 2nd April 2006, the Lincoln 10K (due to injury), however following this I should be back in full flow and running official races at various distances quite often following Lincoln.
Will I still be able to qualify??
Thanks,
Scotty |

Scott, email Alan with details of your best 10k time from last year (or half marathon if you didn't run a 10k) then you'll get a ranking for this year.
From that point onwards, just email all your official race times to Alan, and He'll sort out the points scoring and details like that. As this is your first year, you will be in group 2. |

Hi Scott - you are in - it's as simple as that - just keep your results coming in to me - i'll do the rest .... just keep watching the updates on the club website !
The best way to explain the rules is for you to read what is on the website .... any queries - raise them here and I'll add them to the FAQ's.
Scott - your banding is Band 6, and as Matt says you will start in Group 2 - to progress to Group 1 you will need to complete at least 3 of the required set distances and submit at least 3 results in 2006.
Michael Redmond - you are also in - your banding will be Band 14, and you will also start in Group 2.
Good luck guys !

For those of you confused by the GP scoring system - or just interested, there is now a score calculator in the Grand Prix section on the website. Select the distance you ran, enter the time, whether it was a PB, and which band you are seeded in and it will tell you your score.
Obviously, still send all of your results to Alan, but now you know what to expect. |

Thanks Matt - calculator a really good idea. I've just been playing with possible marathon finish times to see what I get if I hit my target.... or not

It's nearly three months since the last update of the GP standings. With lots of PBs and excellent race results being reported on the forums, I imagine things have changed a lot in that time. Is there an update in the pipeline?
