This is a great idea, should create more of a club atmosphere and interest between club members.

This is a great idea!
One question. If we send a time for a race, and then improve on it later in the year, can we keep sending the improved times? E.g. I'm running a 10k on 2nd May, but I expect to run it slowly due to injuries, and run that same distance faster later in the year. Should I send my 2nd May time anyway, just to get my foot on the ladder, and then update with a faster time once I've achieved it?

i am very slow today. Reading the grandprix details...
There are no mandatory races, however you must include at least one race from each the following categories:- 1. 5K 2. 5 Mile
Matt thinks... "where do I find a races over those distances (1.5K and 2.5M)?"

I understand now |

Vslow: to avoid any further confusion I have changed the Grand Prix details on the site (ie I have changed the dots to brackets & increased the spacing) - thanks for the feedback - if it wasn't clear to you, others may also read it incorrectly !
Fishyweb: I believe that the best 8 times will count (although I will double check this with Sutts) - so I would expect it to be the case that faster times can be used after others have been submitted. (I will clarify asap & include as detail on the webpage)
Good to see you are happy with the idea.

You da man Alan, thanks.
2 more things: 1) Will the performance bands (and which band everyone is in) be put on the site? 2) Do you get a PB point when you run a new distance? |

In answer to: quote: 2) Do you get a PB point when you run a new distance?
Yes, first time over new distances will count as PB's
One more point: Results must be independantly verifiable - eg from a race results site or e-mail from the race organiser.

I only raced one half M last year so that means lots of bonus points even if I come last

In answer to quote: 1) Will the performance bands (and which band everyone is in) be put on the site?
Yes the performance bands (once finalised) will be published on the club website
And to confirm: quote: One question. If we send a time for a race, and then improve on it later in the year, can we keep sending the improved times? E.g. I'm running a 10k on 2nd May, but I expect to run it slowly due to injuries, and run that same distance faster later in the year. You WILL be able to submit improved times throughout the year - providing you fulfil the criteria for race distances required.

I didn't do a 10k last year - is there an alternative banding process?

Hi Mike, quote: I didn't do a 10k last year - is there an alternative banding process?
If this is the case, your first 10k of 2005 will be used to decide your banding (this system will work far better once it ,& the competitors, have been running for for longer !)

Where are there any 5k races ???
there are none in Leicestershire, unless you are female ????
I dont think it should be mandatory to race in each catergory !!
1, Some people may not think they are ready to race over 1/2 marathon distance
2, 5k is not a popular distance unless you are female and you can run the race for life.

There are 398 listed nationwide up to the end of this year according to the Runners World website
Having said that, I kinda agree. I didn't run any 5k's last year and I've never run a 5 mile (although I have found a local one to try). Some flexibility might be nice to maximise participation....

Perhaps some flexability can be built by instead of specifying distances, specifying catagories, e.g something like
2 race between 3 miles and 10K (so would cover 3ml, 5k, 5ml and 10k) 2 race > 10K and 10miles 1 race > 10miles
