New Improved Course for this Year and the event's 25th Anniversary!
I'll be hoping for a decent outcome on my return visit to this Half. Last years event was my first race back for many years as you know. This rekindled my desire to run and was the catalyst for me deciding to take up racing proper. This event also introduced me to UKNetrunner via Shaun's wife Jen, so even more significant.
Understandably, this is a special race for me, so I'm determined to give it everything I've got and finish off the year with a new PB for a Half!
Although it was a good course anyway, it's an improved course for this year too, which eliminates a relatively short, but nasty hill which had to be negotiated twice last year. This year, there is still a gentle gradient which rises to the same point as last year, but this is very gradual over a much longer distance. The organisers are therefore expecting the course record to go this year.
I know Shaun and Colin were there last year, but will you be there this year or anyone else for that matter? I also know that Pricey was potentially looking for a half around this time to finish the year off with a nice new PB. Well here's your chance Stephen. I know you've got Luton Marathon the week after, but I understand that you're treating it as a training run (not racing it) so you should get away with Norwich It should be nice and cool, as it was last year, so a great time to go for that new PB!
I booked ages ago and there are still places, so get in now before it's too late! This is the events 25th anniversary and they're expecting a record field of around 3000.
The course starts and finishes in Norfolk County Showground, but don't worry, the bulk of the course is off the showground, so uses roads/lanes etc. You're only briefly in the showground, so that should allay any fears you may have about windy conditions. It's Chip timing too incidentally and is officially designated as a Gold Grade event by the British Association of Road Races (BARR)
....are you sold on it yet?

I'm in. Unlike Ian I will not be looking to attempt a PB. Training has been rather patchy due to work pressures so I will be not be looking to improve on my GER time. I will be happy to finish sub 1:48.

Looking forward to it Ian. Lets hope the traffic chaos of last year doesn't happen again.

I've read assurances from the Race Director that there won't be a repeat of last year, as they have engaged a traffic managament company to deal with it this year. Also, There is only the one race this year too unlike last year.
See you there!
