Well done indeed Dave and a very entertaining report!
I must admit I thought those Turkeys were supporters too lol
Loved the bit about the turtle impression LOL, not disimilar to me after the race actually
See you there again next year and hopefully before of course!

But what support there was it was very good. I saw the same old woman that Ian saw and she supported me as well. There was also a guy with his family who shouted 'looking fresh mate!' at around 7 miles, then at 19 miles 'still looking fresh mate!' who was at the finsh - at the entrance to the track who shouted 'not looking so fresh now mate are you !' which brought a smile to my face!

Well done Dave, great time for your first Marathon and great report. I do the same turtle impression after only a half!

Good work Ian and Dave. Its great when a plan comes together although I don't think any marathon is without pain somewhere or for some reason. Whatever the time its a great acheivement and something to be proud of.
Funnily enough I wear Saucony Fastwitch, but only up to 10k..being slower and probably heavier its a sensible distance for me. I was also a avid wearer Brooks Adrenaline for the past years but they seem to have lost their edge of late. I have now moved to Saucony Hurricanes, bit more give and bounce in them compared to Brooks.

Well done Ian.. great race ... and sounds like Gill delivered too! London here you come!
Dave ..great report... and er...HW is just as you describe him surely? LOL re the turkeys and any man who can be bothered to do impersonations at the end of a marathon gets my respect!
You both did brilliantly and both in your different ways described the pain and glory of running a marathon....a big *congratulations* to you both.
Just dont bother sitting down for a week...it hurts too much getting up again! |

Thanks David, Dips and Claire
Already thinking about my next Marathon Really enjoyed what was a very memorable day.
Legs feel OK today, so will be doing a few steady runs over the next few days and hope I'm ready for Stroud

Yes I'm reviewing suitable shoes for my next marathon, so I'll also check out the Hurricane. I use two pairs of Adrenaline's for all my general runs, one of which I use purely for my LSR's.
