The only details I can find for it now is that they were going to hold it October this year, so that wouldn;t be suitable (as I'm assuming it would be in June/July to maximise daylight). But I'm sure a suitable race could be found if that's what folks wanted to do.
Another alternative would be to run from Birmingham to London along the Grand Union Canal - there is an ultra that follows this route, so details such as route/checkpoints/car parks etc are easily available. http://www.gucr.co.uk/route.asp It's 145miles although it could be extended a bit to finish at Trafalgar Square/Buckingham Palace etc.

My preference would be to do an existing long distance path, such as C2C as mentioned, if you have to include navigation then it's an additional complication.
In terms of making it happen, if we get a date & route set then we are half-way there.
I love the idea of a couple of teams, either 2 lots of UKnetrunners or getting in touch with local clubs when we decide on a route.
Looking on the LDWA website - there are lots of long distance wayparked paths that might be suitable.
Cheshire Ring Canal Walk 98miles - circular route which might be easier for logistics. Capital Ring 70miles round London Chiltern Way 187miles Grand Union Canal Walk 154miles Heart of England way 100miles Leicestershire Round 100miles Shakespeares way 146miles Viking Way 147 miles and there are loads more My sugestion would be for either of the May bank holiday weekends - are there any big race clashes with those weekends?
If we want it to happen then it's up to US |

Canal towpaths, as long as they are in good condition, are easy to follow and are safe from traffic . We might have to negotiate a few fishing poles!
The London 10000 run is the 2nd May Bank Holiday Monday.
I can see the attraction of a circular route, although both Leeds and Liverpool are well conneected to public transport to most parts of the country.
