Forrest ???? 2 R's ???? What the .....!!!!

(To explain: after beating David at Pitch and Putt .... by 3 shots (!!!) - I also beat him at Fifa 10 on the xbox - Forest 2 Man U 0 !!!! Playing Golf and Fifa 10 is NOT a requirement of the Heaton Park Parkrun .... only the lucky ones get to do that with me!)

Hope you had a good one today. Couldn't in the end do my family visiting today (to fit in with it) so coming up tomorrow and doing the Gin Pit 5M at Tyldesley.
I've registered at Park Runs now so will perhaps get one in before Christmas.

Sorry you couldn't make it Mike - hope to see you there soon!

I had another improvement on my time - knocking a further 46 seconds off my time today (1min 16 in the past 2 weeks!) - finishing in 24:29 seconds - my best Heaton Park 5k so far!

Really pleased as I didn't feel particularly great today - but kept it going.

A further improvement in runner volume today with 105 finishers at Heaton Park today!

Well done Alan! It's great to make progress and see your results posted so quickly isn't it, as is the case with these Parkrun's. I find it so exciting to bomb it down to Cardiff, race the Parkrun, bomb it back up the motorway and wait for the site to publish the times I really can't wait to get back to them after Abingdon!

It's pleasing to see that this relatively new event is already attracting over 100 runners - brilliant!

We were going to do Cardiff next week, but family commitments mean we are off to Liverpool .... so Sat 9 am Heaton looks like a good option ..... the route looks pretty confusing is it easier in reality than in the course description?

Heaton Park 5k Parkrun: In reality easier to follow the route than the course description - a small lap followed by a long lap .... signposted and marshalled all the way around!

Increasing in size rapidly .... first time above 100 runners (105) last week - 145 runners this week (and still didn't feel at all crowded!)

17th October:

I struggled a bit today for a number of reasons - lack of any training since the race on 10th October didn't help!

Legs felt heavy, the hill felt harder, the colder air entering my lungs made breathing tougher .... still pleased to have only fallen back slightly to 25min 21 though - in 69th place - of a field that has extended to 145 runners (was 65 a few weeks ago!)

Also had the thought of the 10k at Southport in my mind so taking it a little easier to stand a better chance at a better than average finishing time there tomorrow.

(Will still be back for Parkrun no. 5 for me next Saturday .... better than staying in bed (really???)!)

Good running Alan and good luck in tomorrows 10k. I've been tempted to complete one of my Parkruns before a Sunday race as you're doing this weekend, but got a tad nervous, so I always kept them apart. I think you were right to hold back a little or your performance tomorrow would have been affected no doubt.

It's amazing how quickly some of the Parkruns are growing week on week.

Dumb questions I know but ...... we are pre-registered but what do we need to do on the day before the start? Does every even have ALL registered runners on a database or do we need to warn them of our visit?

Fat again but not for long :-)

Mike

You just turn up and run. When you cross the line you are handed a metal tag with a number on it. You hand this to the staff manning the laptop/s and give them your name. They quickly check their records on the database to confirm they've got the right person and that's it - job done! A few hours later your results are up on the website. It's a doddle

It doesn't matter which event you turn up at, as they will all have your details to cross check. You don't have to forewarn them of your arrival either.

Yeah, good luck Claire/Mike!

I'm sure you'll be hooked in no time at all. Just remember that pain is temporary and every Saturday is an opportunity not to miss

I'd do them every week if I was fortunate enough to have one on my doorstep.
