Preso's progress:
2.5 miles brisk walk this morning followed by RICE. Feeling OK
12 miles on bike this afternoon. Still OK.
Will try a gentle mile or so jogging tomorrow and see how things go. Back to the RICE for this evening.

Right tried running on my leg this morning and have had sharpe pain in ankle, heal, knee and back, so with regret i am going to have to pull out of the race.
Gutted as i am the one that suggested we do this, but my foot and leg haven't been right for a while and even after 3 weeks rest appears to be getting worse. will go and seek some medical advice next week.
If you need a driver between stages i am more than happy to take on that role to ship people and drinks clothing around as required. Let me know.
Sorry to let you all down

Just a couple of points re: the relay:-
- Although we have registered a team, no payment has been made - so if the team in attendance could club together to find the entry fee then all will be well. I recall the entry fee being £25?
- It's a good job there were no chances taken with my potential participation - even walking is still painful for me - with some nice multi-coloured bruising and swelling still emerging on my foot / ankle and toes (???). No idea when I will be back running again!
Good luck with the last minute recoveries / planning - I'm away for a few days so will catch up with how things are going later in the week.
Unfortunately, I'll be unable to attend in any capacity next weekend.

Mmmmmm, OK.
Just come back from my first run for over a week, a slow three miles. It felt pretty awful (also suffering with viral infection) but the calf is holding up and I'm sure I'll be OK for Sunday.

Whilst it would be a shame to do so, if people are going to end up running when injured/unwell, doing stages (extra stages) they don't really want to do etc, then perhaps we should withdraw our entry. It would have been fun to do with a full team, but if it is becoming a burden for everyone then maybe pulling out is the best option?
I am still happy to run, but I would have no objection if we pulled out and I didn't want it to be an unsaid thing that everyone else was wishing somebody else would say

Im feeling a bit of a fraud as ive only really just agreed to do the relay, however, I agree with Pete. Alot of potential runners are suffering at mo. I am happy to run two stages but I cant guarentee to be able to run at full capacity at the mo tho thats through a drop in fitness..... and i aint that quick to start with ha ha. I'll go with the majority (that sounds like a cop out too, sorry) but I have no objection to a tactical withdrawl.

Apologies for being so quiet following my initial interest in this event. Work has taken over my life and I have very little spare time at moment. Even training is on the back burner. If things were quieter I would gladly join in with this event, but as things stand I will probably be working all weekend.
I hope you can get a team together, but I wouldn't want anyone to take a risk if they are not fully fit.

Pete, you've said what I'm thinking but I don't want the team to miss out because of me. I'll go with the majority.

I think it's a sensible suggestion and I was planning on suggesting it myself as I had some knee issues last week (not run since Saturday but will be testing it later).
I'll drop the organiser a note to let him know.
Nobody's let the team down, injuries cannot be helped.
Maybe next year... |

Pricey - have you heard back from David? I'm assuming there'll be no problem with us pulling out, but just wanted to check before I plan a busy sunday of sitting watching TV
