Here is the first entry of my diary - having started with a 10K PB today, things can only go two ways from here! Planning to give my usual Monday circuit training a miss tomorrow and run Banbury 5M on Tuesday evening instead - strike while the iron is hot!

Welcome Mike. Two races in 3 days - I like your thinking. |

| Well done on the PB Mike and good luck on Tuesday. Don't listen to HW - he doesn't train, he just races 5 days a week. Nutter. |

Congrats on PB Mike and good luck for Banbury 5!
I fancied this one myself, but 18 mile LSR yesterday, 5K on Thursday and 10 miler next weekend. Still very tempted though

Another race - another pb. Quite pleased to have knocked 17 seconds off by 5M pb at Banbury last night(the previous pb having been set a couple of months ago on a much flatter course). I've picked out a race at Hinkley on 24th to have a go at my 5K pb but will probably race again before then. Hope my vest arrives soon.

Thanks heavyweight.
The race was part of the East Midlands multi club/venue grand prix evening series. The two I've done this year Rugby 6 & Banbury 5 were both simple undulating, well supported & enjoyable affairs. I didn't do the Silverstone 10K this year but that the grand opening event of the series.
Rugby had a bit less traffic but both were nice courses.
Its hard to beat a cool summer evening race.

| Got my vest this morning - it will probably make an appearance at Wedgnock (Warwick) M/T 10K Thursday night. |

I'll look out for you at future races now that you've got your vest Mike. I'm not too sure but I believe you may find that fellow clubbie Pearce Phillips is also doing the Wedgnock series of races, as I discussed them with him at the Shakespeare.
Incidentally, one for next year to consider if you'll travel as far as Hay on Wye is the Magic Roundabout. It was my first completely off-road 10k, but I treated it as a training run due to a heavy leg session the preceding day and last minute decision to enter.
It was a tough, very hilly course, but had great atmosphere, generosity towards runners and absolutely stunning scenary.

It was drier under foot & run in the reverse direction but I was reasonably pleased to have knocked 4 mins off my last months time at the Wedgnock M/T 10K on Thursday night. Good to have a quich chat with Pearce at the start as well. Having gone under 1hr on the road this month I hope to be able to do it off road as well soon - maybe on the same course next month. Meanwhile back on the road this week, I've got a 5K at Hickley Wed night and a 5M at Coventry Thu night to keep me busy - both I hope with pb potential. |

Nearly got it all wrong tonight. Working less than 10M from Hinckley this week; so I was on the edge of town at 18.55 (for 19.00 start) but roads all jammed up because town centre closed for the 5K race! Eventually ended up dumping the car/changing in the street and jogging to the start. Arrived with very minutes to spare and no time to relax. Managed to knock half a minute off my two year old pb (watch time - but chip will hopefully be at least as good). Certainly feel I could have done a few seconds better but for the hassle before the start. Lets see what happens in the 5M in Coventry tomorrow. |

Good running Mike and good luck for your 5 miler tonight.
I seem to remember also having a manic journey to a 5k some months back in Cardiff, and that also generated a decent time.
