Hi everybody, New member Mike Hudson posting for the first time. Age 57 and running for 3-4 years now, fairly slow even for my age, but entering local 10Ks regularly and enjoying the experience every time.
I joined the club for the £2 savings but also thought it might give my slowly inproving times a small boost. Look out for me (not quite so far back)in my new vest in Midland races this summer!

Hi Mike, welcome to the club. There's a lot more on offer here than just the £2 off entry fees (although that is good).
One of the most fulfilling things I've found here is to start a diary on the forums here. Write about your training, your races, etc and you'll get plenty of advice and support.

Hi Mike and a big welcome. It's good to have another mature runner on board and someone of around my own pace is even more welcome.
Matt's right, you will get more from the club than you expect. You will also be able to monitor your progress in the Grand Prix, where everyone is equal and all you have to do is improve in order to compete with the best.
There are a few Uknetrunners from your area so you'll soon be bumping into them at races (keep an eye on the calender).
Looking forward to reading about your progress, good luck.

Welcome Mike, we are of all standards here. One of our common factors is our desire to improve.
Good luck with your races - come on here and tell us how you get on. |

Hi Mike. Like you I joined mainly to save a few bob but have got much more out of membership than that.
Everyone is so welcoming and supportive and you will soon feel part of something quite unique and special. Wear that vest with pride! |

Hi Mike, great to have you on board. I'm sure you'll come to find that joining this club has been one of the best running-related investments you could possibly make! Look forward to seeing you around...

Hi Mike
Joined just recently myself too. Managed to suddenly speed up a bit since then after putting on the new UKNR vest and spurred on by reading some of the motivating marathon race reports posted on the Forum!
Welcome.

Hi Mike,
Welcome, use these guys and gals as much as you can they are a really motivating bunch and will help you improve. They will also get you through those tough times in running when it seams to be all going wrong.
It's also great to save a few quid here and there.
start a diary and post your results the grand prix is a great level playing field on how you are improving.
Hope to see you at a race soon.

Hi Mike and welcome to the club. Glad you've ventured onto here. As the others have said, you'll be sure to find plenty of encouragement and advice should you want it.
Make sure you get your race results entered on the main site so you can take part in the Grand Prix. The competition with other clubs members will certainly help motivate you to quicker times.
All the best |

Welcome to the club Mike. I'm also one of the more mature runners, but I feel 10 years younger because of this club. This is the best running related decision you will have ever made.
Look forward to meeting up with you at some future event.

Hello Mike, great to have you on board. Well done on your "Northbrook 10k" result. Its a nasty course that one, great running.
