I still have my club Hi-viz (which I forgot to return). I may need it for leg 11 if we get behind schedule again! If not then mine will be available for the later legs.

I could arrange to go straight to Kings Lynn Alan, but I wouldn't be able to get there until probably about 9pm. We'll be staying in Norwich as usual and we don't usually get there until about 9ish travelling straight from Redditch after work, but Kings Lynn isn't much further.
I'd like to avoid being up too late that evening if possible, as I have a very late leg the following evening.
As Gill had previously advised she has offered to do a bit of running about if necessary, but its probably best if Gill posts what she can/can't do regarding this.

As I am from the area and know it pretty well I am willing to do any running about as required. I can't transport bikes but I am willing to take bodies (hopefully not dead ) as required. I do need to be able to collect Ian from Norwich in time to get him to Scole for his leg apart from that willing to do any time, any where (within Norfolk ). I'll get Ian to supply you with my mobile number when he gives his. I still think you are all mad! but good luck any way. |

LBM's Missus - thanks very much for your offer - which I'm sure some of the team will take up to aid with logistics.
I am fine for my stage - my partner will drive me to the start of my stage and I finish at Kings Lynn so I'm fine.
Would be great if as many as possible could be at Kings Lynn (Lynnsport) on Friday night to talk about logistics (and just have a catch up / get together!) - by the time I arrive and have pitched it will probably be around 9pm anyway - as it will be a drive down from Manchester at around 4pm on Friday.

I was planning to arrive a couple of hours before my stage then head to Lynnsport for the finish after, if anyone could advise what time I need to be there that would be good and also either move my car or give me a lift that would be fantastic. I have a 100 year old Ron Hill reflective vest as long as its not going to be inspected for a kite mark should be ok. Also do I need know where I'm going or will I be able to follow signs or bike.

If you're still completing leg 13 as orginally planned, you could leave your car at the end of your leg and Gill will collect you and bring you back for the changover from me/beginning of your leg. We've discussed and it's no problem, so long as it doesn't cause any issues with plans made already by the team.

| Pearce - I did your stage last year, it was pretty straight-forward but there are a couple of bits where it is possible to go wrong. It might help if LBMs missus is driving you to the start to do the actual race route in reverse. |

Pearce...all is in hand and you will have a car escort as it is night time hours so you shouldn't get lost. Can you also resend me your work email so I am able to contact you when needed...your an elusive chap We can either move you or your car to reunite you...I just need to think about timings etc.
SteveA - no worries about your change of pace, we have until the evening before to change the declaration and as you know from last year the timings might vary depending on how we go, so hang on to your Hi Viz.
LBM's Missus Thank you for the offer, once I have sorted out who wants what I can work out what is needed/works for all. I do know that Stephen P doesn't require any transporting though.
HW and the biker boys I will email you in the week so we can work out logistics and Time Keeping coverage. I also suggest we have a recap/nightcap at Lynnsport the night before?
Those that won't be at Lynnsport on Friday evening will need to collect their number at the start of the leg so we need to build this into the plan. I shall be at Lynnsport from about 6/7pm on the Friday but as LB amd me have the longest 'leg' of all we shan't be staying late.
Please also note that your leg start times may vary if we are given a later start...they may also vary if the pace of each leg is faster/slower than hoped so please build this factor into you getting to the start of your leg. As we did last year it is important that I have everyone's mobile numbers so that I am able to ring ahead if there is a problem/change and to update you on progress of the team. As requested a few times... it is useful if you let me know by PM or email if you have any transport/transfer needs or indeed any desire/wish or want...its easy to miss things on the forum.
Couple of information points included in a email from the RO...
• Pre-race supper @ £6.25 per person and breakfast on Sunday @ £7.25 per person available at Lynnsport. Menus on the website. • Sports bar at Lynnsport open from 8.00 am on Saturday for breakfast. • Camping (free) is available at Lynnsport. See website for booking details. Those wishing to ‘doss-down’ on Friday and/or Saturday may do so free of charge in the crèche at Lynnsport: no booking necessary.
Signage: Following last year’s experiment, we are reverting to one type of sign throughout the course. This will be RED A5 size with a black arrow. The letters RNR will appear on the top of the arrow. Where RNR is not at the top, the arrow will almost certainly have been tampered with. May I remind you that route finding is a team responsibility and in this connection, those running off-road stages are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with their route (but see note on website re Sandringham Estate) and that they carry a copy of the stage description during the race. I will be sending out an email in the week with all the information I have which covers quite a few queries you have asked/posted. And request various bits of information from you.
The Course: The only change to the course this year is in Stage 4 where instead of going on to the A149 at the observation post, the route continues to follow the coastal path into Blakeney, past the quay and up the hill before going back onto the A149, an increase of 0.09 mile to the stage. You will have noted that the website now includes Satnav coordinates and postal codes to assist navigation to vehicle access points and changeovers. Talking of changeovers, apart from Burnham Overy (Stage 3), these will now be manned by various clubs. Marshals at changeovers will be identified by an RNR armband. Please ensure that their instructions are obeyed

Dips, I was getting really excited about stage 4 until you mentioned the hill. I still get nightmares from last year.
As I only live 10 miles from Kings Lynn I won't need to set up camp at Lynnsport, but I will come along to the briefing on Friday evening.
I will need transportation to reunite me with my vehicle so I am looking for a volunteer to take me to the start of stage 4, either before or after my run depending on where I park.
I am happy to volunteer for transport or cycle duties later into the event.

We might need to revisit the Hi Vis vests. Message from RO
Hi Visibility Garments The race Safety Rules (Click here) require hi-visibility/reflective garments to be worn during the event. It is important that all hi-visibility garments worn by runners, marshals, supporters and cycle escorts have strong reflective properties and are in good repair. Flimsy vests made up of (so-called) reflective mesh do not do the job and are unacceptable. Referees will be asked to pay particular to this important safety matter.

Dusk/night and dawn...but we did use the string type last year so it looks like they will not be acceptable.

Surely they can't expect runners to wear anything less meshy than those hi-viz vest we used last year? It'll be far too warm.
Why don't they actually just say the type of RUNNING hi-viz vest that's acceptable instead of quoting the British Standards ref number that's never shown on running kit??? |

To make sure could we get some sort of pre-approval from RNR for these vests. As I understand it they are standard RonHill hi-viz running tabbards - shouldn't be too hard for them to make a judgement in advance.
I know Pricey prefers minimal clothing for running, but even I draw the line at having to run in a hi-viz donkey jacket. |
