I have a question about keeping in touch...
It would be useful to get regular updates as to our progress, particularly whether we are ahead/behind schedule. Aside from impacting the start time of my own stage I am acting as taxi for Colin/Steve.
Can a call/text tree be put together to pass on the latest update after each stage?
thanks |

Stephen, it was my intention to text/phone updates ahead as I will be with the race from start to finish. I was hoping you would all be organised enough to keep each other informed in view of picking up/dropping off.
It is of course important that I am informed of any problems on route..ie someone not at the start of their leg on time!

Well if you insist Dips It would save me energy and hassle if I or my car could be moved, so yes please. No doubt we can sort something on Friday.

Pete, just use the baton. Hopefully Matt would have wiped the blood off it from bashing the tourists blocking his path along Sheringham promenade.

Good news on my recovery front.
I managed to just get out and do a trial 2 miles - aiming for a nice steady plod just to test my calf.
Strapped up I managed the 2 with very little discomfort - and averaged 9min 30 miling (at what was supposed to be steadier than that!)
So, I feel I can run a stage of the relay next week - and will get a bit more steady distance in before then to make sure of further improvement.
May be wise, as you suggested Brigitte, for me to drop down from the last stage to the 8.8 mile stage (same as I did last year!) if that fits in with team plans - probably safer from a pace and finishing the stage perspective!
Thoughts?

Quite like the look of this Hi Viz vest. It's light, wont ride up - looks ideal. I'll probably where the Hilly LED armband too
Scroll to the Nathan Streak Mk I Vest http://www.sportsaver.co.uk/acatalog/Reflective_and_Safety_Gear.html

Somereasonably priced reflective gear on that site Ian. The flo Gillet isn't too bad at £15, for training runs anyway.
Will email round with new schedule later today.

Yes looks like a decent site
I did in fact order one of the Streak MK1's and a flo Gillet in prep for RNR and winter training.
Just need to decide when best to sleep before my leg now, as that's the biggest challenge running between 1-3a.m

I can never sleep to order so would find that one difficult. Although have ran some of my best races on the back of a lousy nights sleep. The trick is to bank sleep in the nights leading up to the big one.

just dug this link out of the 2008 RNR forum thread - http://www.tri-anglia.co.uk/2008/RNR/index.html - scroll down and you can see the route and links to gmap-pedometer for each stage, from which you can export the route as a gpx to import into your Garmin as a course.

Good stuff Matt - I'd heard they were available somewhere.
Obviously not critical for my leg as it looks pretty straight forward (hopefully). I'll be printing off a copy of the Post codes/Co-ordinates of the changeover points though.

Great link for the routes Matt .... but can I hell get the route into a format that Sporttracks or Garmin will talk to!

| Why's that hi-viz vest called a "Streak"? Are you meant to wear that with nothing else? That'll clear the Sheringham prom! |
