I dont think the intention was for every shirt to be different - just for each to include all stage runners - but even that might be a bit pricey.
Routes - The signs are minimal (especially on road stages) so it's best to have some idea of where you are going. The support car/ cycle will help though.
Dips - It was a chihuaha!!! (When you see her ask J what they call lap dogs in Dutch - even I was shocked!) |

David - thanks for the heads up on stage 12. It's good to be forewarned. I had previously been studying the sections of the stage on the site to familiarise myself anyway, but I'm sure even the organisers descriptions can be too simplistic and miss key points.
I'm visiting family in Norwich this weekend and also have a Half Marathon in Swaffham on the Sunday, so I'll take the stage sections with me and check the route out. It's only half hour away I guess. Nevertheless, it's useful you having done the leg previously, so I'm really glad of any pointers. I seem to recall a few sniggers when it was suggested I pick this leg up - is there something you're not telling me
Incidentally, how did you get on with lighting. Did the support car's lights provide ample lighting to avoid you going **s* over *** or was street light sufficient I guess of course it will also depend on whether it's a clear night sky between 12:40-03:05 hrs (predicted time slot) I was wondering if there's any point in using one of those powerful headlamps you can strap to your head I've done a fair bit of running in the dark, but not racing, so it will certainly be interesting, if not eventful.
Matt's cards seem a great idea, but night runners would be better off knowing the route well beforehand, as we'd have little hope of reading the card in the dark anyway, especially at speed

| Ian - I did my night stage last year with a head-light, I found it useful although most of the others relied on the support cars lights. I also had J on a bike which was nice for company if nothing else, you must have car support at night, with the addition of bike support optional. I don't recall seeing any of the race signs at night, they might have been there but don't think so. |

Thanks David. I've seen a few different types, so I'll check them out.

Have I missed something here? Is there a shared copy of the speadsheet somewhere that we can all edit?
That would be handy, cos I wanted to add the fact that I can collect my number (and Pricey's) at KL on Friday...

Claire, would I lie to you.
Matt,on the subject of route cards, I have the stage 5 cards from last year. Unfortunately, I didn't find them of any use, mainly because I didn't get them until after the event. I can let you have them if you want. Stage 4 cards would be useful, although I have been doing my homework, so should be ok.

Fishy! the ruddy spreadsheet I have sent round umpteen times!! second page with various info on? I have you on there for a med t-shirt and collecting your number at KL...need to up date Stephen's though...men!
Claire...you will have either the car or a bike supporting you, last year Bill had a bit of both as dawn was breaking. Either way you won't go wrong. I will have the route instructions in the car..so will just shout out the window. Perhaps Matt can do you a route flippy over thingy for reassurance and whoever is on the bike supporting can keep an eye on it.
Mind you David K did try to lead us all up a garden path last year...literally!
Ian, from memory street lighting is minimal to non existant. I do try to keep the car beam in front of the runner except if we have to overtake another runner...in which case you will have the other runner's car lights until you put enough space between you and the other runner for me to get back in. Most of you stage is a long straight road with some incline but there are a few roundabouts to negoiate when the signage is not too large...again LB or myself will shout if needed.
Just remember we did the dress rehearsal last year...this year will be a piece of cake
and HW...it was a ruddy great wolf!

Hey don't blow a gasket, B! Last year, someone (Pricey?) put a copy on a file sharing service. Thought maybe that had been done again without me noticing.

LBM, I didnt use a head torch and found the headlights sufficient, I wouldnt worry bout route cards as Im not sure youll need them as route is pretty straight forward apart from the last couple of roundabouts. Course is lit in the village as you leave the start but thats it..... its pretty black from there. I took delight in aiming for the flashing lights in front up the road. I suffered from cold hands though as it was fairly nippy. I dont think youll have any problems and think youll be quick too as its come withing marathon training time for you. There was one hill I got particuarly cross with, I even swore at the folks in the car because of it lol but think it was down to tiredness. But i did love it and im sure you will too. Be on your toes for when Pricey gets too you, he'll be going like a steam train lol.
Not sure if its been mentioned or not but for those camping on the Friday and didnt go last year, theres great food to be had in Lynnsports, plenty pasta etc.
As for route finding Claire, dont worry, youll be fine, its the same for everyone, Shaun even had time to go for a swim and ask some cows for directions last year ha ha.

Thanks Dave/Dips
I hope all falls into place and I do the team justice with a decent time, but I don't like the sound of this hill you mention. Now I understand the initial sniggers
Incidentally, I didn't mean I planned to use a route card personally, only that they are a good idea, but they'd be better suited to the daylight stages that have a few more twists and turns.
As for the lighting, I'll probably drop the head-light idea given what you and Dips have said. They're very useful as HW commented, but if not really needed, then that's less weight to carry.
I'll check out the leg, especially the last couple of miles of the leg at the weekend.
Cheers

Matt, I can either send you the cards if you pm your address, or I can bring them along to KL on Friday night.
