I wanted an autumn marathon and I wanted an opportunity to go for a PB, so signed up for Abingdon today. It's a flat one, with multiple laps (which somehow appeals to my OCD side ). Is anyone else doing this one?

Yes - I signed up for similar reasons - not able to run the Paris last weekend, so needed a more local flat, fast Autumn mara to lose my virginity on ......in a marathon sense.

Already received confirmation letter.

Hopefully see you there

My brother is considering entering this one if so I should be there in support. It will be great to have Uknetters to shout at too.

I shall be there in support as my boyfriend is doing it as his first marathon.

Laura - I just found this course map on the website, it doesn't seem to suggest multiple laps. Do you have other inside information?

On the map 5 and 15 are close together, as are 10 and 20, so that looks like two laps to me. I think the RW description said it was multiple laps.

It looks like a figure of 8 with two laps of the larger loop...good for spectating then.

Fraid my brother was too slow off the mark to enter. He did the New Forest Marathon last weekend instead.

I have a feeling Laura gave up her entry...but could be completely wrong.

I seem to recall entries closed quite quickly. I think the limit is 1100 this year, which seems a little mean, but I guess it's all based on the route and what the organisers can cope with.

LBM - I think that 1100 seems to be plenty as the course is mainly on open roads. Does the pack give details of where the water/feeding stations are and what will be available at them for the for the runners?

I confess I haven't read it all properly David, but I seem to recall from a quick scan that it does mention stations every 3 miles and something about biscuits at some of the stations - strange one that

Anyway, I'll have a proper read when I get home tonight and post details.

*Incidentally, I think I read that Mick n Phil will also be doing Abingdon too.

Great if you can make it Dave, but your little girls birthday party is the priority

It would be good to see Mick there too,, but I am surprised he was running without Phil when you saw him. I didn't realise Mick also ran alone.

Cheers Ian. Mick doesnt very often run alone, it was just the way it worked for a change. He's a fast guy on his own when he's going for it.
