I have been told "fast girls" are welcome here? But as I am neither fast nor would be considered by many to still be a girl I am not sure I am in the right place or if I am meant to be somewhere entirely different?
But after some persuasion from a "hedonistic" friend of mine I have decided to dip my feet in the waters of UKnetrunner, stop lurking and become a fully paid up member. He didn't exactly tie my hands behind my back but he did say I wouldn't regret it
I am an F45 (how that did that happen?!)and returned to running in 2006 after a 22 year gap having first done GNR in 1984! But I haven't looked back since and relish almost every minute of it.
2008 was largely about rebuilding from ITB problems, running instead of crying after some death and destruction in my life and only ever looking forward. I managed to log over 1000 miles, got to grips with HR training, finished some studies off ....and in the summer my personal life took a definite up turn and it just keeps on getting better And he runs too...how lucky am I ?!
My goals for 2009 include:
my first marathon - Edinburgh; improving my 10k and half marathon PB's ,( currently 49.42 and 1.48 respectively) get serious about some strengthening and flexibilty work..... and I hope now to also share in the support and friendship on here.
You come highly recommended!

Claire - welcome to the club (if you have joined - otherwise hurry up and join!)
quote: I have been told "fast girls" are welcome here?
whoever told you that might not have meant 'fast' in the running term . However looking at your 10k / 1/2mara times you will fit in well with a majority of us!
I can assure you that you are amongst a friendly and committed (or soon to be so!) bunch with UKnetrunners as reading the forum will probably tell you!

Welcome to the club Claire. It's good to see another lady joining with some great potential. Those times are very good already and by the sounds of it, you have the motivation to keep improving.
You've joined at a great time for the club and you will definitely get all the support you want/need. |

LOL - welcome to the mad house Claire. But Uncle Alan says we can only chat to people who have actually joined!
Less fat, more fit, but still hedonistic |

Blimey mad house indeed! I am not at work today but what is everyone else's excuse?!
Quite right of Uncle Alan..... the news is full of the dangers of talking to strangers on the net! |

Congratulations on joining Claire, and welcome.
I sincerely hope you manage to beat your friend occasionally at running and can you give me a few tips how to do it? |

A HUGE WELCOME Claire. You're just a young slip of a thing but you will find plenty of help and encouragement among this daft lot.
I think one of the main differences with this club is that we don't see each other enough to to get on each others nerves but you can talk to your clubbies all day every day if you want to.
Hope you find everything you need, looking forward to meeting you soon.

Thanks Preso... I was in a "normal" club previously and found it difficult at times to run to their schedule if my targets were different so this seems like a great place to get the support, encouragement and advice ...and use it at a time thats right for me.
And of course if other members consider me a slip of a thing then this is the club for me! BTW.... I was born and bred on the Wirral! |

It wasn't too hard to guess. I hope we get to meet at race (or relay) soon. |

Shhhhhhhhhh, wouldn't say too much about the Wirral thing if I were you. It's OK, I won't tell anyone. Matt D is from Wirral originally too but he seems alright now.
