14th April 0900 8.13km in 46min 50sec Ave HR 144 After Race on Sunday and Cricket and football on Alnmouth beach on Easter Monday with friends and family, my foot was rather sore this morning but i just put this down to the twisting and turning with trying to get me kids out in cricket and beating them in football because as i started to run the ache subsided and had a nice enjoyable run in the mizzle this morning

16th April 0740 8.13km in 45min 45sec Ave HR 146 2 X 1km in 4.42 and 4.25 I have been a little bit lazy this week in my second week at home, so forced myself out for another 5 miler this morning, very enjoyable and decided on spur of moment to have a couple of hard km's in the 4th and the 6th km. Still a bit chilly, but no problems to report. Have entered local 5 miler on Sunday just down the road from where i live which is at a country park which was made from the old coal mine at the Rising Sun in Wallsend, and there is a nasty hill if i remember rightly, its probably a good 12-13 years since i last had a run round the area

Just looking back on the goals i set at the beginning of the year which on reflection now and the form i am showing are a bit of a waste of time or not very challenging should i say so i have decided that i am going to reassess.
No 1 Was an injury free year and (touching every bit of wood to hand)is still a major goal
No 2 Was the weight issue which i currently sit within target No 3 Race Targets 5k was 23.00 but feel that 22.00 is achievable (pb 22.38) 10k was 47.00 but after Sunday 44.00 is more realistic (pb 44.24) 1/2 was 1.47.00 but feel 1.45.00 is within range (pb 1.46.47)
I think i have surprised myself in the last 3-4 month how i have kept to the interval training etc and have obviously gained the rewards in my last couple of races, so hopefully it will continue, once i have settled in Wimbledon i hope to pinpoint a few midweek races around the area whilst targetting a half in the Autumn.

Good progress Ian and as you say, a reassessment of targets may be a good idea. It's great to set new expectations and get a shot of extra motivation.

Mate agree about no injuries and loosing weight but I think you are being a little unadventurous with your targets - from what little i've seen your capable of better
No 3 Race Targets 5k was 23.00 but feel that 22.00 is achievable (pb 22.38) go for sub 20 10k was 47.00 but after Sunday 44.00 is more realistic (pb 44.24)sub 42 1/2 was 1.47.00 but feel 1.45.00 is within range (pb 1.46.47) and sub 1:35
just believe and do it

Good run Ian. As Mike says, perhaps you should be looking at some more ambitious targets

First week back at work in new job after nearly fortnight at home.......strange week run wise was never sure wher i was sleeping so only managed the one run, managed three beds in four nights, thats two differant hotels and my flat, but last night was in my permanant digs so hopefully now thats sorted can get back to some serious running in my new surroundings in Wimbledon.
.....So Tuesday was my only run of the week when i done something like 45mins probably about 4.5miles an an ave HR of 156 quite high, but running up Wimbledon hill is a bit of a tester and plus did'nt have a clue where i was going so made sure i done an out and back course and also it was very warm and i had had nothing to eat since about 7am and i went running at 6.30pm so not very sensible i know.
Very sore calf muscle in right leg which subsided half way through run but came back towards the end, but seems fine since then. 10k at Blyth tomorrow so we will see what i can do, forecast looks good

Good luck for tomorrow Ian!
I'm sure you'll start to really benefit once you've had some time to settle in to your new job and routine.

26th April 1000 Blyth 10k 45min 49sec Will post report later but think lack of training in last couple of weeks really showed today, did not enjoy today, felt tired from start to finish although time is a pb by 1min 24sec for this course so i suppose can't be too disheartened.

Congrats Ian - you got a PB despite feeling so tired. You should be delighted
Imagine what time you'll achieve when you're fully rested and firing on all cylinders!
