Well back from fab weeks holiday in Cyprus in glorious weather but little or no exercise far too much food and alcohol, on the scales this morning it said a hefy 14st 7lb wow that was enough to put me right off today, thats a gain of 10lb in a week, shocking. Still no running still have the pain have been to docs again this morning who has now referred me for physio but appointment could be 4-6wks away, can't wait that long and i am going to try and get some private in a week or so. Really cheesed off with no running

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery Ian. There seem to be a lot of injuries about at the moment

First physio session this morning which felt both painful at times but good as if some sort of progress in the right direction was being made, established that it was more likely muscular than scaitica, as all muscles in my right leg were very tight, from the calf area up to quads etc and could not sense problems in the nerve areas, felt good after the session, and took a few tips on exercises to do this week and have another session next Saturday booked, but feel a lot more positive now. Will religilously do the exercising bit the next week and maybe week after will go for a little 5-10min jog and see how it feels as he advised. Also said that this could also have been caused from my fractured ankle of last year but also the driving will have contributed.
I think the message is i need to do exercises more (must admit i am hopeless in maintaining any sort of regime on that score but also i need to take a break in my driving at regular intervals ie last nights 7hr trek without a break was not a good idea in my current circumstances!!).
My target is now the Pudding Run at Whiltey Bay on Boxing Day which is only a 3.25miler but a run nonetheless. Would love to do NTRIX again but the finances are a bit tight at the moment and it would need an overnight stay so it maybe a last minute thing but first things first i need to get back running to the level i was at before this for my own peace of mind if nothing else.
I think that this has kind of rammed it home that i am no spring chicken anymore and i need to be more careful of what i am doing and the impacts they can have, but also to do regular exercises to be able to prolong my running life. And anyway i have a stone to lose

2nd physio session this morning and although still feels the same to me physio said that it is definitely not as tight as last week and keep working on the exercises to stretch the nerve. I am going to try 5-10min jog on Monday and see how i feel

Pleased you seem to be getting somewhere Ian. Try to keep at the exercises/stretches and really hope we see you at the NTRIX.

Monday Night a whole 7MIN 57SEC! gentle jog round the block, i am not 100 percent for sure and still not certain if i am doing the right thing, but felt reasonably okay considering it is about 11 wks since i done anything. Must admit it was good just to run
Tuesday Felt okay pain not anywhere near as bad but still there just the same
Wednesday 15MIN 10SEC!! a double round the block this time, but this time felt quite hard for the first five mins then seemed to improve the longer i went, but as soon as i had finished i could feel it starting to seize up again. Anyway did exercises still
Thursday Woke up very sore and stiff in the leg although once moving okay.
Friday Still there but better.
Not getting carried away just yet but i think i really need to take it v easy for a few weeks first before making any grand plans

Fingers crossed for you Ian. Glad to hear you've managed to get out for a few runs, but sorry to hear you're suffering so much pain.
So many in the club seem to be going through the mill just lately. Surely things must improve for everyone soon.
Good luck with the rehab!

| Great to see you've been able to run. Don't go mad though - take plenty of rest between and make sure it doesn't flare up again. |
