No worries folks - I'm being good!
Although - feel very lazy which in turn makes me feels like I'm turning into a blob each day that no running goes by! However - OH has convinced me I'm not and I'm doing my best to eat well an not just junk in all the free time I have
So - I haven't run again since Wednesday. Massage really helped but I could still feel something. Not sure yet today so just leave it till tomorrow - race not till 11 so plenty time to up and drink an loosen the legs off before I decide. I've definitely been having hydration issues so trying to work on that and hopefully the muscles will thank me

Agree with others, be silly to do the half and end up well and truely injured. Whatever you decide...just remember the goal is Edinburgh marathon not a half marathon PB. Saying that I my calf always growls about this point in marathon training and could be sypmtomatic of something else going on so your massage person was prob right when found other knots and problemos.
Keep it easy...the miles are in those legs and not going to escape now.

Well.... some but not a whole lot of running going on but work not so bad I suppose.....
Finally finished the main stuff I've been working on since Xmas-ish and never broke it 9 hours from 2am Friday really took it out of me - too much light up here all the time for sleeping!
Today the division I work in all were told whether they were affected by the job losses announced a few weeks ago - luckily in my department only a few managers affect (means OH an I both fine) however lots of people I know including most of the department I used to live in (ok that was supposed to say work ) all received 'the email' telling them to go to more meetings and get details about the 'options'
So sort of phew for OH and I but a weird too which is the worst I've felt about the whole situation since it was first announced. Good for us an our bridging loan at least.
Only thing is - we were also told that next time you could be affected even if you escape now..... but I think that means ok for a couple of years (I like my job a lot - don't really want to leave)
Anyways..... maybe I'll think about actually updating the running part of my diary at some point

Has the midwife or anyone else given you any advice on what running you can do and for how long or can you just carry on as normal for a while yet?

Krissie - Doctor had advised me against doing the marathon - but she'd already said (knowing I was planning it) that running was fine and would do no damage. When I asked her straight she said she wouldn't (but she does some running - nothing like I do) and said her advice is no BECAUSE she would feel guilty if something bad happened. My one midwife appointment so far didn't get as far as exercise and stuff (so I didn;t tell her I'd ran a marathon an week an a bit earlier or that I'd cycled to see her ). Apparently there's some kind of walk-in class thing I'll find out about.
Bob Glover book I have has a wee section basically saying no problem at all. BUT everyone's different and pay attention to how you feel. Use perceived effort rather than normal pace or BPM - because your heart rate naturally rise anyway.
At the minute I'm going on others folks experience cos what's out there and what some less informed folks tell you would have me the size of an elephant in the next six months!
Massage lady seems perfectly happy with the idea I just keep going so long as it feels ok and I back off when tired etc.
Basically not forcing yourself too hard - if you use it don;t let your heart rate go stupid (altho the 140 BPM some folks give is stupid in the opposite direction - mines goes to that when I put my trainers on practically and my max is over 200 and I know I can go 150 -160 without issue!) however I'm just going on the blether scale (can;t I talk or not) to decide how I feel.
With regards to how long - it seems to be how you feel and how comfy you are - I've found a few folks got to about 6 to 7 months but get uncomfortable even with support bands but then others who have still done a version or running / walking up until poppage so I think it's a case of listening to your own body. My book reckons women instinctively start to cut back a 1/3 to 1/2 in the last 8 to 12 weeks.
I think the wee factor will come into play soon an dictate what type of distance I can do! And the fact that 'summer' is coming - if it's too hot then I need to back of unless I have plenty fluids and able to keep myself cool enough.
I'll try no to be so quiet Claire! Just no running and other stuff on my mind (not that you could guess eh )
Sorry about the novel LOL!
I'm off to get ready for my 10:30 train to Hull for the Humber Bridge half LOL - I may only run part of it given it'll be my first run since mara day!

You know im mortified at not being able to do Humber Half this year due to the financial monsters getting in the way. However, have a brilliant run, i'm sure youll enjoy it, its on of my favourites and the bridge is amazing to run over. have fun, take it steady and enjoy.

Sounds like you have done your research Ann. Don't apologise for the novel, you know that I want to know every detail for future reference

| You sound like you are doing exactly the right thing Ann, and listening to your body. And doc/midwife who doesn't run will probably advise against it, but those who understand will say you can keep going. We've had at least one example in the club (or maybe RNR for those who remember it) who have run until going into labour, so you won't be alone. |

W/C Monday 15th June Monday Travelled back from Hull and was exhausted!
Tuesday Had to go to work Cycled 2 miles to + 2 miles home from work Lunchtime - 3 miles easy-ish with the wee beginners to intermediates Jog Scotland group.
Wednesday Phew - day off work! Painted a ceiling finally! REST from exercise and Oasis at Murrayfield in evening. About an hour walk before getting a bus the last couple of miles home - achey exhausted legs LOL!
Thursday Very tired today. Had to go hand stuff to estate agent in AM then home and asleep.... but not till after having a stupid attempt at a fight as OH put coleslaw on my roll and I wanted to eat it anyway but told him not to make it again and then burst out crying an mumped off to bed - numpty me an poor OH was left trying to make me feel better while I tried to ignore him but then expain what was obviously completely illogical! mmmmm hormones I felt better after the sleep Evening - Pilates 2 x 45 mins (was standing toalking to friend before she went into 2nd class an teacher asked me if I wanted to do it too... so I did ) Friday Cycled 2 miles to + 2 miles home from work
Saturday Cycled to B&Q with OH and back - 3.5 ish miles
Sunday Cycled to find some net curtains with OH - 5 miles
Slept most of the weekend - OH actually decided to convince me to to the cycling which I'm gld he did otherwise I wouldn;t have got dressed or gone outside

Hi there - I have two gorgeous kids but we went through 5 pregnancies to get them. The best advice is ..... go with what feels right for you ....... and **** happens it's not always your fault ... good luck but know it is never the end of the world.
