A ha! Woo hoo - that means I get 2 PBs in 8 days provided I finish

As for Stanislaus preso.... to be honest I don't really do history much to fully understand why he said it. What I do know is that when I read it it tweaked a chord in the way I felt with my 1st Marathon and still do with my new running aims.... I know what it means to me

All the Marathon benchmarks I set myself on the way were, at the point I set them, beyond my grasp - finishing, running the whole way, 4:30, 4:15....

I didn't always believe I could do it, in fact every target I set myself (the ones for me - not shared with everyone else) are doubtful. I think it is possible but would I really be able to do it. The doubts helped me gain perspective on what I was doing, what I wanted to achieve and I worked through the doubts (and my training plan) to find the belief in myself and what I had achieved so far to carry me to those targets. Especially on the off/ill days and weeks where a 35 miles week turned into 13

The doubts I suppose instilled a sense of fear (I do think that's the word I want to use) and determination which I use to look at what I achieve on the way and find the belief I need in myself to actually go on and do it. A belief which helped make the Edinburgh Marathon, 11 months (and 2.5 stone) after I started (unable to run 3 miles), not only possible but for that magic 4 hours to happen too!

OK... that reads weird! And a bit deep

In short - doubting before I truly believe - it makes me not take stuff for granted and instead work hard (but sensibly) towards my goals because I then know I can!

Hi Steve,

you don't need to do anything with the GP, Matt will update it all when he gets a chance.

In fact, all you need to do is remember to update your time on the website and the rest is taken care of. No need to e-mail Matt anymore.

Well done on the time by the way, you should be able to get some PBs at the other distances based on your 10m time. Good luck.

Cheers Stephen!!

That makes sense now, think the Grand Prix instructions may be a tad out of date.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention - I've recently taken on the role of updating website content and intend to take a look through all the pages soon to update as appropriate. I've spotted a few things myself so will hopefully get onto it at the weekend.

Good luck with tht Grand Prix content Stephen - I have not a clue what's going on in there

I resorted to just thinking I need to get myself into a 5 miler this year to add to the new 12k distance for me on Sunday! And PB at everythng else... at least once
