Ditto Stephen's comment Dean.
You'll get your chance for London .... I had to do 2 x charity places to have the chance of experiencing it before getting in on my 5th attempt!!!
There are better ones out there to try in the meantime ..... and your chance will come - and there IS the club ballot .... still places available.
Good luck Dean - chin up mate!

Yep chin up Deano...recruit a few more members so we are in the bag for 3 club places and that gives you even more chance!
I've ran on a charity place a couple of times which wasn't too much like hard work. But the world is a different place financially now and it might be harder to raise money.
How about Edinburgh if you like the idea of a big city marathon?

Edinburgh is also a little later in the year .... allowing for a better run of training - out of the winter months?
I would recommend it (and I enjoyed Edinburgh more that London .... which is a personal viewpoint only!)

plus edinburgh is downhill, although, as experienced this year, can be warm.
How's about a trip to Paris with the Mrs? Think that's in April. |

| it ruddy is (says the man who hasn't run it), hence why all the times on powerof10 have an "a" after them. Although the downhill is at the start which isn't much help by the end I guess. |

Yes the first mile is down, quite sharply, trouble is you spend the next 20 going back up. Bit like stage 12 at RNR
Opps sorry Deano

Mate go for the club ballot. I was lucky got in 2nd year of trying with the stupid ballot system. But have now had 2 rejections so far, not got home yet so don't know either way.
I really want to run it next year so will probably be equally annoyed when i get home. However there are plenty of other marathons and there will be plenty of other opportunities. It's just a pain if like me you have set your training with that in mind to grow mileage etc.
I really wish they would open it, allow the first 40,000 who manage to pay get a place, save a load of hassle and waiting. They should do this 2/3 months after the previous race which means all the people who get places and then drop out won't apply anyways. I know someone who did this last year and got a place and didn't run, they got a bit of a telling off from me.
Sorry for the minor rant on your thread see you at GER.
