You've got plenty of time before Nottingham, Deano, so you're right to take it steady and build up to it. Hopefully the next few runs will go well for you and then you can start to look ahead to September.

Good luck for your race on Friday Deano. I've been wondering whether to have a crack at it myself as I need to add a 5 miler to the portfolio. Problem is getting there on time. If I do I'd probably go straight from work, as although I currently live in Worcestershire, I'm working in Telford.
Incidentally I'm keen to add a few more 10 milers, as I don't see them compromising my Marathon training, so long as I build them in sensibly. In fact, I think they're the perfect distance if positioned right in the training schedule.
Can you provide any more info on the one you looking at in August? Is it just called the Heanor 10 and does it use the same route as the 5 miler you're doing this Friday?
Anyway, I'll wish you good luck now for tomorrow in case I don't make it.
Cheers
Ian

Just got back from the Heanor 5 miler. A new course this year , even more hilly then last year ha ha .. but very good time for me over this hilly run. 3 and a half mins faster than last year.. 41:29 ( 8:22 per mi )..
SPLITS. 8:20,7:54,8:02,9:13,7:58..MILE 4 up hill very hard..
Very wet as well, but that was very nice..

Good running Deano!
An improved time on a hillier course has got be a good sign that your training plan is yielding dividends.
Sorry I didn't make it tonight. I was too wacked after work and simply couldn't face three long drives in one day.
