27th January

5miles @70%WHR = 40mins 06secs

Very icy this morning but cleared during this session but then was replaced by freezing fog, very cold but hardly any wind so almost perfect conditions

just over 70%WHR average over this session, no run ralated aches or pains

28th January
0730

5miles @70%WHR = 40mins 29secs

drizzly rain troughout made for perfect running conditions, just over 70%WHR average overall for this session and felt comfy throughout even having to slow down and stay disciplined to WHR Zone

few races planned as maybe's for the near future BUT 7th JUNE is my main target as its my Nemesis event The Sea Bank Marathon, it clashes with Woodhall Spa 10k this year, other races seem to be being run on the same day this year so I may/will have to pick carefully which one's to enter, it may mean less races more training, time will tell

thanks everyone for very kind comments

the day went very well, having my 3 daughters in the same place and then hugging each other afterwards was just awesome (they really are close and do get on) and this alone ment the world to me and they are all happy with my plan of where i will scatter my dads ashes and they all want to be there as they know its a place they can return to as and when they need to be with their grandad who spent MANY years being their babysitter

I have another story from today which I will add after this entry, this day has been very strange and different, read the next entry and see

NOT A RUNNING STORY just a strange end to the day

30th January
1700(ish)

after the day I've had we (Jen & Me) had decided to have Fish & Chips for tea (something we havent had for some time) so off i go to collect said tea and decide to stop off at the village shop for some cider to wash it down with, well on arrival i witness a Robbery going on, yes Robbery, nothing major but a group of teenagers are using a younger lad to stash goods from the shop

after the day i've had and the fact i work for the prison service and knowing how a simple theft can lead to worse things, I sit and watch this activity for a short while and think do i get involved or not...........

I think of my dad and my daughters strangley enough and the next thing I'm challenging the youths about what their doing and the fact i KNOW what they have done, i suddenly realise there's more of them than me and of some of the horror stories in the press BUT i remain firm but fair(military training) and say "just drop the goods I'll return them and no more will be said" little bit more chat and low and behold all the goods are on the floor and they walk away

there's so much on the floor i can hardly carry it back to the shop , the shop owner (James) is gobsmacked when i pile the goods back on the counter and relay the story but he does thank me

during the evening I have 2 knocks on the door both are from parents thanking me for what i did and how i went about it, the 2nd parent was the father of the lad who was carrying the stolen goods and the lad was there to and said sorry, i just said learn from it, move on and dont be lead by older boys, i would'nt want to belittle the lad as it would be counter productive

the parents knew who i was because i'm always running in the village and that I have a shepherd and wolf type that stand out a mile, i mention this last bit as I thought i lead a very quite life and no one knew me BUT apparently the world is very small

this incident could have turned out so different with the youths of today BUT i am very fit and today has had me fired up inside so i guess i felt safe, i wouldnt advise this action all the time BUT my emotions where fired up from today and its ended very well

sorry its not about running i just need to express my feelings to peeps i care about

A lovely story Shaun. A brave & decent thing to do & I'm glad you got the reward of the parents' thanks.

Nice story there Shaun and well done. I hope this genuinely makes the lads think twice about doing similar in the future.

Glad today passed okay for you and you had your girls with you.
