So sorry to hear the sad news Shaun. Hang on in there mate. Everyone will be thinking of you at this difficult time. I can empathise with you entirely, as I'm shortly to lose my mother.

All the best and chin up!

Thanks for the friendly welcome yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.I hope his death was peaceful. My Mum died this time last year and running has helped me deal with it... many private tears are shed in the hours before dawn when I pound the streets! I hope your running helps too.

Look after yourself in the weeks and months ahead.

Looking forward to meeting you in Stamford.

How true your words about silent tears Claire...and how many I have shed whilst running.

Shaun, when my sis in law died 3 years ago I thought I would never get over it...but time does eventually heal, you never forget...they live inside your head to quote the great Coldplay. And yes, sometimes I am sad but I can work through it now.

Shame Stamford is the other side of the world I quite fancied giving it a whirl.

Well, Stamford is apparently NOT on the other side of the world and it seems I am about to enter!

22nd January

REST DAY
- not a scheduled day off from running but woke up feeling carp and just generally yuk , it also didnt help having disturbed/broken sleep and listening to the gale force rain hammering at the windows, tomorrow is another day and has got to be better than the last 2 days "has'nt it?"

Thanks everyone for kind words, i'm sure many of you have gone through the loss of a loved one and the aftermath that happens afterwards, this is my 2nd time in 2 years and this time the AFTERMATH is all mine with the support of my Jen AND you Guys & Gals thanks again

Dips - Stamford Striders St Valentines 30k is a cracking event which is up and down (literally) and if you saw the shirt I was wearing at the AGM the contour was printed on the back, its a bit like an erratic heart beat SO if you do run this event and it hurts you PLEASE be gentle with me

Shaun, so sorry to have only just found out about your sad loss. Of course, your dad was very proud of you. It's a tough time, mate. My thoughts are with you.

10.5miles @70%WHR = 1hr 26mins 35secs

I had a pace in mind and wanted to see if I could stay within WHR% for it and I managed to better the pace that I was looking for, which basically is a faster pace than my last years Stamford 30K time

although Stamford 30K is up and down I feel I have the strength/stamina/endurance over the longer distance to better my time of last year and for one reason or another I will be going for it

10.5miles @70%WHR = 1hr 31mins 34secs

same route as yesterday but today it was with gale force winds and head on driving rain, although conditions had got slightly better towards the end and i felt like doing more miles and time was not on my side so called it a day at 10.5miles

I remained at just under 70%WHR throughout the session and given the conditions I'm happy with

no run related aches or pains and overall a good session

26th January

Scheduled rest day from running

I'm not gonna enjoy this week as it involves lots of NOT running stuff but I'm sticking to the plan of every Monday being a rest day where possible
