Big week this week for me, running wise.. this Sunday will be a 17 miler! eek.

Tue 24th February
4.03m - 00:36:10 - 8:58 - hr 159bpm/76%WHR

Enjoyed going slightly faster than mara pace.

Wed 25th February
7.98m - 01:14:26 - 9:20 - hr 152bpm/71%WHR

Midweek long run - good HR.

Thurs 26th February
4.16m - 00:39:21 - 9:28 - hr 151bpm/70%WHR

70% WHR run.. feeling strong.

Friday will be a day of rest and then 8 miles at race pace on Sat and the 17 mile LSR on Sunday. I'm feeling great, really enjoying my running and full of confidence at the moment

Oh, and tonight we have a babysitter and we're off to the pub for some nice grub

It was indeed a good morning for a run yesterday - left me feeling energised for the rest of the day. We had a day out at Windsor - got there just in time to see the changing of the guards, which the kids really enjoyed. They then *really* wanted to go into the castle and meet the Queen.. of course we might have struggled to achieve the latter but we also opted not to go in either - £41 for a family ticket?! crikey.. We had a wander down the long walk for a bit and then headed back to town.. went to the HaHa bar and grill which was really nice - I had a fab chicken and chorizo pasta.

Last night I cooked a bolognese pasta bake (with the 17 miler today in mind).. all a bit pasta'd out now.

So, I did the 17 miler today (well, 16.73 according to Mr. Garmin). It was a run of ups and downs - the first 5 miles were really hard going. I don't think my head was quite together, my HR was high and I just couldn't get into a rhythm. I had to concentrate on slowing down for a few miles to get the HR under control and then things were ok. Had a gel after about 6 miles and after about 9.5 I saw something that really cheered me up..

There I was, heading along the A324 between Pirbright and Aldershot, the sound of distant gunfire and the scent of exploded munitions in the air and I noticed that someone had spray-painted a huge flower onto the road, using one of the white lines in the middle of the road as the stem - brilliant

Excellant stuff Matty boy I had a fantastic run into work on Friday morning...the sunshine makes so much difference. I was smiling away to myself, now I don't do that too much on the way to work!

Not sure if it is feasible for you but I had a go at running home from work Thursday eve then back in on Friday morning. It worked well and meant I was home for the evening Thursday instead of bombing in at 6pm and out by 6.45 until about 9pm. Got to watch the Master chef final too!! Above all it meant I got my mid week longer run in on my way home.

not really feasible - I don't fancy a full mara each way to and from work much!

Good running there and great mileage

Altho.... no idea why you wouldn't want two marathons in less 24 hours.... such a good idea of Dips to suggest for you and you just don't appreciate it

Smout, Dips.. apologies - I shouldn't be so ungrateful

went to Body Pump last night for the first time in about 4 months. Ouch. I used to go to a class at Bisham Abbey (near work) which had on average 5 people per class.. last night I went to the local leisure centre and the class there had 50 people - fantastic! Really good class and I made sure to lower my weights from what I was previously using as it's been a while..

warm up: 10kg bar
squats: 25kg bar
chest: 10kg bar
back: 20kg bar
triceps: 10kg bar
biceps: 10kg bar
lunges: no weight
shoulders: 2.5kg weights
abs: 5kg weight

legs are feeling great but my shoulders and triceps are protesting this morning. it even hurts just raising my coffee cup to my mouth

5 miles a lunchtime, should get everything going again

You indeed are ungrateful, 2 marathons in 2 days is just the training you need! You could always drive 16 miles park and then run 10 each way?

unfortunately the on the way to/from work thing isn't doable if I want to see the kids during the week! Plus I wouldn't be able to leave the house early enough to do this - I can't see our Nanny wanting to start work at 6:45am.

I am lucky that I'm able to take long lunch breaks and so it's not a struggle to fit in 8 mile runs during the day.
