Sorry to hear about the injury Matt. It was a good time despite the Calf injury! Hope you're sorted OK in time for the Ridgeway.

Try some gentle stretching but not too mad as you don't want to do more damage by tearing anything.

Alternate heat/ice might be a way forward but don't ice and then stretch

Sending good vibes for RR.

Thanks Dips.. starting to think it might actually be a strain. It may well have started out as cramp but then I could have strained it by running on it.. it can't still be cramped up now, can it? Anyway, I'm definitely not stretching it too much at the moment.

Wed, Thurs, Fri: Rest

calf strain steadily improving but no running yet. Should be ok for Sunday. I just noticed my ridiculous lead in the GP - wonder how long that'll last!

Sun 21st June - 9.4 m - 01:23:34 - 8:53m/m - avg hr 83%WHR/168bpm
Ridgeway Relay stage 10 - report at http://aluaka.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~2100.asp

My left calf is in a bad way now - swollen, very tender and very sore. I'll be writing to Reckitt Benckiser to ask for sponsorship by Nurofen I think I'll most likely need to take a couple of weeks off running now and give this a chance to get properly better before starting to train again. I have a couple of 10k races next week but there's really no chance I'll be able to do either. So, I'm targeting the last QMR 10k race on Tuesday 21st July for my comeback - a month should hopefully be sufficient.

I thought I replied earlier to this.

Thanks for 'taking one for the team' yesterday, Matt.

Does it count as a win for me at QMR if you are a no-show?

Matt sorry to read about the calf - make sure you cross train during the 2 weeks off - I didn't and now I'm aching like an achy thing trying to get my fitness back.

Less fat, more fit, but still hedonistic
