Tue 12th May - 3.44m - 00:34:93 - 9:54 - avg hr 70%WHR/150bpm Good gentle lunchtime run with a colleague.
Wed 13th May - 6.01m - 01:00:32 - 10:04 - avg hr 70%WHR/151bpm Nice bit of drizzle today but again found it hard to keep the HR down.
I've decided not to do the Marloborough 20 this weekend and instead do 2 miles over two runs (5 on Sat, 15 on Sun). Then what should be a definite new 10k PB next Tuesday evening - still can't believe I ran a sub-7 mile in last weekends race. Not long ago that seemed totally unachievable.

I have just discoverd I work only a few minutes from the Queen Mother Reservoir - what are these races like.
I guessing they're flat, but also exposed? and the running surface?
Well done on the 500

aaah.. they're very good. It's two laps (or one for the 5k) on a slightly gravelly track around the reservoir - hard underfoot and not too many loose stones so it's a good surface. It's flat as a pancake but it is exposed to the wind.. however as the track is around the reservoir, any headwind for some part of the track will end up behind you for some of it too. Definite PB potential.
They're pretty well organised and last year the numbers grew with each race.. entries on the day help. Plenty of parking and a nana at the end.
Here are my reports from races 2 and 3 last year - http://aluaka.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~1447.asp - http://aluaka.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~1508.asp
Hope to see you there.

Sat 16th May - 5.05m - 00:50:47 - 10:03 - avg hr 73%WHR/155bpm Hilly run whilst eldest was at stage school..
Sun 17th May - 15m - 02:30:24 - 10:02 - avg hr 67%WHR/146bpm I had to talk myself into doing this one.. My wife did the Moonwalk HM in London last night and I was at home with the kids. I had Holly and visit me in the night and Kate woke often with bad dreams.. poor sausage. Obviously my wife was tired when she got home at 8am and I was feeling a bit sleepy too. Reminded myself that this was the last opportunity to get a decent LSR in before Edinburgh so off I went into the wind and rain. I really enjoyed the run and the weather - just like what I've done most of my training in and I'd take that over warm weather any day. Somehow I had my Garmin off for about 15mins/1.5miles during the run so the time/distance is approximate, but it's a route I've done before. Felt strong throughout, HR was perfect and plenty still left in my legs.

Tue 19th May - 10K - 45:01 - 07:14(m/m pace) - avg hr 87%WHR/174bpm Queen Mother Reservoir 10K series Race 1
I'm absolutely over the moon and I'm confident I'll go sub-45 at some point this year. This race (finally) puts over 60% on the WAVA ratings.

Great running Matt!
It looks like there's a real battle on between yourself and David to get that sub 45 first
Good luck to you both! _________________________________________________ "The will to win is worthless, without the will to prepare." |

yeah, not sure what happened there. I think my garmin timing was probably more accurate, but I'm not complaining
