I have a question about the authorisation of results on the main site.
Is this really necessary?
I understand the reason behind it, regarding falsifying results for the Grand Prix, but is that really likely to happen? And does anyone actually verify the results now? For example, I've submitted my 10k time for Sunday and have to wait for someone to authorise it, but when an admin logs in, will they track down the official results to check I'm telling the truth? What happens if results for events are not published on the internet?
Just seems to put an uneccessary delay in the process.

I'm not 100% sure and excuse me if I am wrong...but I think Matt holds the master switch for the GP and its a case of him pushing a button. I have looked at my admin rights and there is nothing GP related there so I can't do any more I'm afraid.
You could try emailing Matt, he is usually prompt in replying.

| It's not just about the GP, but results don't show in the hall of fame or PB list on member data either. |

On a related topic - is everyone clear that it should be the "official" result that is entered onthe web site for GP and Hall of Fame, rather than the unofficial time you record on your own watch?
I know that has been discussed on the forum in the past, but I've not noticed any mention on the main web site - so it is quite possible that newer members may enter unofficial results if they are not aware of this. I'd recommend changing the "Result(hh:mm:ss)" legend on the Add Race Result page to "OfficialResult(hh:mm:ss)".

When you say "official" I assume you mean Chip, which isn't actually the official time. The official time is the gun time
Sorry to confuse matters more and am in favour of the chip time being used, where the event is chip-timed obviously. Otherwise, the gun time. |

Yes, I think it has always been accepted that chip times are acceptable, where they are available, but gun time must be used in all other instances. That is my understanding, anyway.
