In the past I have done a couple of Marathons and rasied money for Shelter. They have offered me a place for 2009 (as long as I pledge to raise a lump of maney). Has anyone experience of the help/or not that they give with finding hotels - getting to the start - and the other stuff that looks a challenge? Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike - I ran for shelter in FLM 2006. I thought they were very good - but most of the help was post marathon (meal, shower, massage etc.) in a marquee that was quite close to the finish. They had a couple of supporters points round the course as well & looked after the suppporters well (rain jackets, t-shirts drinks etc). It was also good to meet at the start for team photos etc. I am afraid I don't know what other help they will give, but I know they have a dedicated FLM team so it's worth asking.
What amount are they asking for you to pledge in 2009? In 2006 it was £1500 but my company did a matching scheme so I only had to raise £750 & I found that a bit of a struggle, maybe as Shelter does not tug at the heart strings quite as much as some other charities. |

Thanks for the reply. They are looking for £1,600. I need to find out if this can include the gift aid tax contribution
