Blimey! They went quick!
We may need to re-look at the qualifying criteria for the club FLM places for 2009 - as if all the places have been snapped up it may not be fair to expect our members to have registered in the ballot if they are unable to!
It may be a case of club places available to all members (who are fully paid up members prior to 1st July 2008) regardless of if they have been rejected in the ballot.
Thoughts?

Humm difficult one, maybe if we have two places one should go to someone who DID fail in the ballot and one to a member selected by the committee? Just a thought

If membership goes over 100 we may have 3 places?
I agree with your thought Dips - emergency e-mailing to committee in order to discuss and agree closer to the time I feel!

Alan,
Probably the fairest way to do it is to give one place to anyone who's initials are ND and lives in Herts!
Not sure if that fits anyone......wait a minute.

my thoughts for what they are worth, paid up members who would like to run london go into a draw.i cannot enter the ballot as far as i know as outside uk.i can only get a place by buying a package of hotel, flights and entry at an exorbitant rate.
a runner suffers one hour of pain to achieve twenty three hours of bliss. |

Michael, there is nothing to stop you using a postal address in the UK for the ballot...did I really say that?

I've put my name into the hat fo FLM09 on sunday. But if they don't give runners a realistic chance to get there names in. which is annoying, Should maybe review the process. Like said previously, maybe certain number for rejected club members, the rest through a club ballot.
Be interesting to know how many club members who want to do it in 2009 have already got into the ballot and who hasn't

I managed to get in. An interesting point though is that the web site stated it was opening at 12 noon for online entries. It allowed me to fill in the form , pay my money etc at 10.56am! I received an e-mail to state that it had been accepted .

Well that's decided it for me. Was thinking of putting into ballot in the unlikely event I changed my mind and wanted to do it again but as I am going to be in the wilds of the Lake District next Monday it would be a case of finding a Net Cafe and to be honest I just can't be a***ed. There are just too many other Spring maras to try. Will it be Loch Ness, Cork, Windermere or ? and they are just the ones that come to mind. Done Rotterdam so it won't be that one again - not that it wasn't good but somewhere new is better. Good luck to everyone entering - you can thank me later for being someone who won't take a place from you.

| Hi all, I have entered through the ballot system, I think. Didn't get an e-mail back though. Does this mean that my entry hasn't got through. Bring back the paper system. I have been turned down 4 times on the trot so hope it got through o.k Peter |

Hi Peter,
could be worth following you application up as if it is your 5th entry you should be guaranteed a place I believe? (unless they have changed that rule as well!)
I was pondering the issue whilst out running tonight, and as the FLM guys have changed the system we are going to have to consider a way fair to those who have been able to enter, and those who haven't, for the club place(s).
Maybe, as as been eluded to already:
A) 1 Place - from a ballot of members (joined before 1st July 08) who have been declined in the London Ballot and can provide some form of proof of decline (e-mail or paper baser)
B) Remaining place(s) - from a ballot for members who did not get into the ballot (and those who did not secure the place from the club ballot detailed in A) above)
Hope that makes sense .... thoughts?
Seems fairest way to me (but then I won't be interested in a place!)

I think you should organise a Dodgeball tournament at next year's "Not the Roman IX" with the last three standing getting the places |
