Blowing my own trumpet. Got email yesterday informing me that I won two prizes in the RNR photo competition, including top prize in one of the categories! Details on the "2008 Photos & Video" link on http://www.roundnorfolkrelay.com/ .

Also, nice to see a link to Krissie's video on the home page - helps to publicise our club.

Arrhh how nice...I think UKnetrunner have made quite an impression on the RNR in one way or another. What a good day today is turning into.

Anyway, your fleece and cap can be your reward for all your hard work.

Oh well, just heard back from Mr Race Director

Hello Stephen,
The funeral and thanksgiving service for JB has been held and I'm reluctrant to ask Helen about a donation. So, I think it would be best if we just left things as they are. Thanks very much, anyway, for your kind thought. I'm coying this to Rob as he is away until next week.
Regards,
Ian

So, fleece, cap, and beers it is then!

Steve - I personally feel you should use the money to "subsidise your UKNR cap and fleece", you did a great job and rewards dont come easy these days for hard work that is put in.

subsidise away my friend I'm proud to be in the same club as you so no need to contact the organisers, your in NO way being selfish, you've helped promote OUR club AND the event which is priceless, stand proud my friend as you have achieved, well done

respect

How kind you are Steve and I don't think you have any reason to redeem yourself, donating half is kind and generous.

If you have a hang up about the other half you can always buy your fellow 'A' teamers a beer

As for settling my score with leg 17...I am quite happy to leave the score as it is thank you very muchly.

Hey, easy guys, this only amounts to £17.50!

To be honest, I've reflected, and feel kind of embarrassed that I only asked them to donate half the prize rather than all of it, but I somewhat selfishly thought that the remaining £17.50 would subsidise my UKNR cap and fleece. Which is nonsense of course, as I can afford these without any winnings from the compo (as long as my bank doesn't move to Iceland and go belly up)! I'm going to email the organisers again, and see if I can redeem myself.

Fantastic gesture Steve - proud of ya mate!

The recognition is still there - and the prize of the praise from your fellow UKnetrunner team members and fellow clubbies is worth far more than the monetary reward!

However, I will be first in line to buy you a pint when we next meet (or equivalent fruit based drink if at an event!)

Well done Steve. Fantastic achievement despite the fact that I'm the star of one of the pics.

I'm glad you made me pose at least 6 times to get the shot right.

Nice thought about the donation. Makes me proud to be in the same club as you.

Colin.

£35. Though I've asked them to donate half to a charity in memory of John Barrow. I'm assuming they will have a suitable cause that they can send it to.

Dips - I know you want to settle a score with leg 17 yourself next year really!
